walkwalkwalk newsletter December 2006
Dear All,

walkwalkwalk have had a busy year! So we thought we'd keep you updated on what we've been up to (just in case you missed out)…and let you know what's in store for the coming months.

**Residency and Live Performance at Camden Arts Centre** September 2006. Our 'live archaeology' a la Antiques Roadshow was well attended - and blogged (see http://www.inblogs.net/acediscovery/2006_09_01_acediscovery_archive.html). The mythology of the Gummi Bear seemed to capture imaginations! We have (nearly) completed editing the film of the event - soon to be screened. CD recordings of 'walk stories' featured in the installation will be available soon - and copies of the posters shown in the event are available to download on our website. (Also still visible in tiny traces on walls around Bethnal Green)

*****nerds rock !!! CD*****…also in September with Camden's support, we produced nerds rock: sounds from the walkwalkwalk archive, volume 1 The cd is a limited edition artists' multiple, edition of 50. It features 13 audio tracks of genuine field recordings from the walk, including The dryer at Mayfield House Coin-operated laundrette, Lunchtime in the Arches Cafe, Walking south on Cambridge Heath Road from Addaction, and Rain on Petticoat Lane tarpaulin. Available in pink or yellow neon, with full sleeve notes, price £4.99. Purchase from Camden Arts Centre Shop or website http://www.camdenartscentre.org/books.asp?type=artist or from Artwords Bookshop, Rivington Street or their website http://www.artwords.co.uk/acatalog/Audio.html or directly from us on our multiples page …but hurry as not many left!

walkwalkwalk: The Musical, with guest artist Tai Shani, took place on Sunday 24th September. It was a magical event, featuring the work of 6 musicians/bands at locations along the walk. The music was incredibly diverse - from unaccompanied traditional song, to a seven piece band - each performance was beautiful and added another layer of emotion and mythology to the locations (the coin-operated laundrette, under the railway bridge at Glass Street, and St. Matthew's churchyard amongst them). We managed to reach a wider audience with a live interview on Resonance fm's 'Glass Shrimp' show before the event, and a fantastic feature on 'Glue Peter' afterwards - including interviews with us, voxpops with the walkers, and live recording of the songs.

walkwalkwalk: The Musical CD will be available very soon - featuring tracks from all of the bands, plus text by Tai Shani and the walkwalkwalk team. The CD is designed by Stephen Fowler, and contains a unique print **********************************************************
